Visual artist
My artistic practice comprises non-figurative painting and abstract photography. I am finding that experimenting across these disciplines is creating interesting and often unexpected connections and challenges. My work explores discovery, change, distortion and manipulation. The fusion of painting and photography within the process of my work creates a circular practice, rich with creative possibility.
Ultimately I want my images to affect myself and the viewer, to affect physically, to absorb, to envelop, to immerse or at the very least to intrigue.
MA Contemporary Fine Art
I’m currently studying a practice-based MA in Contemporary Fine Art at Salford University.
I am an Associate Member of Northlight Art Studios in Hebden Bridge.
Portfolios and Projects
Portfolios of my work, work in progress and inspiration and ideas are here.
I am also working with my business colleague on a joint blog, Seeing Double by Holly and Jan – our game of visual ping pong to get the creative juices flowing.
I also post images to Blipfoto – a photo a day, most recently using only my camera phone. I use this site as a place to indulge my “what would this look like if I photographed it” tendencies.
